Danny Kane, entertainment entrepreneur, has dedicated the last 15 years of his career to innovating and evolving the nightlife of his home town, New York City. Over this time he has collaborated with many ground-breaking magazines and venues to bring his unique visions to life. Partnering with icons such as Maxim Magazine, FHM, Gotham Magazine, Eugene Nightclub, Bed, Gemini Lounge, Ford and Elite Models his expertise has been a sought after ingredient in executing some of Manhattan’s most lavish and celebrated parties. After a successful series of parties for films such as Mission Impossible 3 and Fantastic four he decided to invest his efforts in bringing his dream venue THE GATES to life.

An active participant in local philanthropy and giving back to the communities that have supported him, Kane participates each year in the Annual Thanksgiving Eve Food Drive and other local charities.

Rod Surut has been in the New York restaurant and lounge business since 1983. He has worked with such establishments as the River Café, Water Club, Laura Belle, Le Club and Tatu. He has successfully created, developed, and established two lounges/restaurants in Manhattan. The first being the legendary Gemini Lounge that had a successful 7 year run. The second establishment is the famous east village destination Naked Lunch which has been operating for the last 15 years. Rod Surut brings his outstanding operations knowledge to the Gates and is one of the main operating partners. He has proven his ability to develop a lounge in the most fickle of markets from the ground up and keep them running for years.

Nightlife veteran of 13 years, Redd Stylez, has helped orchestrate the opening and promotional direction of many high-profile nightclubs in New York City in the past decade. Upon graduation of NYU’s Stern School of Business with a Bachelors degree in Finance and Marketing he created String Theory Events and the prestigious Hotels Group. He has produced countless events for the NFL, American Express, Bacardi, Epic Records, Hugo Boss, Jive Records, and Playboy. Redd is the mastermind behind successful ongoing, events surrounding the Super Bowl, New Years Eve in NY, Miami and LA, Sundance Film Festival, Winter Music Conference, Coachella Music and Arts Festival, Summer in the Hamptons and NY Fashion Week.

THE GATES, housed in an iconic 1845 Chelsea building at 290 Eighth Avenue, is the latest incarnation of a space that brings together the best of the 20th Century with the possibilities and excitement of New York City's future. Once a speakeasy, the building has now become home to THE GATES, which when launched, will mark a new chapter in the city's nightlife history.

Kept private from the street by the pair of heritage brass gates after which the venue is named, THE GATES features an interior salvaged from the art-nouveau masterpiece The Biltmore Hotel in Midtown. The decadent space with lavish marble walls, an open fire place and crystal chandeliers reflects the timeless and classic nature of genuine luxury. THE GATES will feature an exclusive line up of the world’s best DJs, events, premieres and launches, fusing each party with its own iconic style.

Concept:

Beginning the evening as a high end restaurant/bar and transitioning into a late night lounge, THE GATES will cater to an upscale crowd in one of the most unique settings in the city. Food will focus on bold flavors with a shared plate experience.

The space, which has room for up to 285 people, has two sections, allowing for members to sample our specialty drink menu by the bar or to enjoy the VIP lounge. We will offer bottle service, per request.

In order to create the atmosphere we want, we have developed The Ambassador Program, which will fill the place with a great clientele base in a more organic way. Ambassador status is being offered to only a select group of influential individuals who have been chosen by THE GATES because of their shared vision and potential to contribute distinctive styles and personalities to this unique destination.
